We need to clarify this very important question about the disposal of paper in the toilet. We promise to be brief.

The sewage from Pousada Lanea Experience is treated through a biodigester, which works through anaerobic digestion. Bacteria decompose the organic matter in the absence of oxygen and produce, as a result of this reaction, biogas, treated sludge and water, providing a more sustainable and environmentally friendly sewage treatment.

Here is a summary of how it works:

1. The sewage enters the biodigester, passing through a grate and a sand box to remove larger solids.
2. Inside, the bacteria decompose the organic matter in the sewage in the absence of oxygen, producing biogas, treated sludge and treated water.
3. A decanter separates the liquid, solid and gaseous phases.

4. The anaerobic filter improves purification by removing residual pollutants. 5. Finally, the treated water is directed to a sinkhole (or infiltration ditch) for safe disposal in the soil.

We also use a biodegrader that works as a catalyst, helping to break down fats and other more solid organic waste, reducing odors and increasing the efficiency of the system. The biodigester treats sewage, eliminates the need for septic tanks, improves effluent quality and transforms organic waste into energy and fertilizer.

But the question remains:
Why can't I throw toilet paper at Pousada Lanea?

The answer may seem obvious after reading the beginning of this text, but it is very valid to answer:

Paper and other inorganic waste clog the waste separator grid, blocking the litter box system, interrupting the filtration and biodigestion process of the bacteria. This is why we kindly ask that such objects be deposited in the trash cans.

But why use a biodigester and not the common sewage system?

Atins is growing from an old fishing village, however, despite the growth and increase in establishments, basic sanitation still leaves much to be desired. Therefore, as an environmentally friendly company, we seek to adapt to technologies - obviously, following protection laws - and contribute to the preservation of the nature around us, especially due to its proximity to the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.

We count on you in this mission!
