Another unique attraction in Atins is the "plankton view", whereit is possible to witness the phenomenon of bioluminescence from microscopic marine organisms that emit light (phytoplankton include algae, animals and bacteria). It is a natural phenomenon more common in warm, nutrient-rich waters, and more visible in areas with little or no artificial light, which is why this tour takes place at night.

Here in Atins it is more visible on new moon nights, or darker nights, so here's a tip. The tour is done by boat or canoe and lasts around 2 hours, generally starting between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Their glow is generally green or blue-green, depending on the species of plankton and triggered by mechanical stimuli, such as the movement of waves, agitation of the water or the presence of predators, for example.

They are found in New Zealand, Largo de San Diego, the Raa Atoll islands in the Maldives and Lake Gippsland in Australia. In Brazil, in addition to Atins, they are also seen in the coastal waters of Imbé and Tramandaí, in Rio Grande do Sul (RS), in the region of Ilha do Mel, in Paraná, and in Ilhabela (coast of São Paulo).
